Dr. Burks is also a writer, educator, researcher, and entrepreneur. She writes novels and short stories; copyedits and ghostwrites; educates future teachers; publishes and presents educational research; trains on teaching strategies, edTPA, diversity, equity, and inclusion; and motivates through keynote addresses.
She holds certifications in Diversity and Inclusion from Stanford University and Cornell University.
She is the recipient of the Dean's Service Award, Emerging Professional Award, and Excellence in Teaching Award from AUM College of Education and the Centennial Five Award from Alpha Xi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Dr. Burks has served as AUM's first Chief Diversity Officer (Interim) from June 2020 to December 2021 and is currently Associate Dean of the College of Education.

Dr. Brooke Burks has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Language Arts Education from Tuskegee University, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in English Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction from Auburn University.
